About

Adwoa Andoh, is a self-taught Ghanaian-American artist. For Andoh, art transcends creation; it's a portal. It allows her to both process the complexities of the world, particularly the unique experiences of women of color, and to escape into realms of magic and mystery that reside just beneath the surface.
Her work is a visual conversation about existing in the in-between spaces, the liminal. Through vibrant acrylics and oils, she delves into the emotions that arise from navigating a world that can be both beautiful and fraught for women of color. Her expressionist style uses bold colors and dynamic brushstrokes to capture the strength and resilience inherent in these experiences.
Ultimately, Andoh aspires to uplift. She wants her art to spark introspection, to transport viewers to a place of inner freedom, and to remind them of the boundless magic they possess. By celebrating the complexities of the human experience, particularly for women of color, she hopes to inspire self-belief and ignite a sense of wonder in those who encounter her art.
